Check out this edition of the Great Life RE Weekend To Do List! While we try to find activities and events that promote social distancing and a safe environment please always use your own judgment when attending any activity or function. 

Do: Gravel Gardening 

When: Saturday, February 20th, 10am 

Where: UT Gardens Knoxville / 

Join UT Gardens Director Emerita Sue Hamilton for an exploration of her newest garden endeavor. Since 2019 she has been building a gravel garden at her east TN mountain home. This method employs a gravel planting bed, a drought tolerant plant palette and thoughtful plant placement to create a beautiful low maintenance garden. Learn which plants to choose, how to prepare the soil and the benefit of this planting style. Class size will be limited to 15 participants.

This program is scheduled to be in person. All attendees will be expected to follow University of Tennessee COVID-19 guidelines which include wearing face mask and a completing a visitor health screening within 24 hours of the program. The form may be completed online at https://visitorscreen.utk.edu/ or may be completed on paper upon arrival at the gardens. Classes may become virtual due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Eat & Drink: Pizza & Pitcher Night 

When: Sunday, February 28th, 4pm-9pm

Where: Blackhorse Pub & Brewery / 430 South Gay St. Knoxville

Try: Make Your Own Felted Gnome

When: Saturday, February 27th, 10am-1pm

Where: Historic Ramsey House / 2614 Thorngrove Pike, Knoxville

 

Join in with Misty Anderson, local needle felter, for a fun workshop to create your very own gnome! No previous felting or sewing experience/skills are necessary to create these sweet little gnomes. This workshop is perfect for felting beginners. During the workshop, you will create one gnome in the color of your choice. Your finished gnome will measure approximately 3 inches tall, depending on how firmly it is felted. All instruction and supplies needed are included with admission. This workshop is appropriate for those 10 years and older.

*This event will be held inside our Visitor Center. Class size will be limited and COVID safety measures will be in place. Masks are required while indoors. Air sanitizing humidifier by Ionogen with their nontoxic Ionopure sanitizing products will be used during the entire workshop.

Watch & Listen: Barrel Organ Demonstration

When: Sunday, February 28th, 3pm-4pm

Where: Lenoir Museum / 2121 Norris Freeway, Norris 

Want to experience music & entertainment from a different time & place? Head to the Lenoir Museum for a demonstration of their 18th-century barrel organ on Sunday, February 28th.. 'Museum Mike' will lead a discussion on what he knows about the instrument (including its origins, history, and even its future) before demonstrating a few tunes. Social Distancing measures will be in place, w/face coverings required.
